In 2011, we introduced the latest stone fruit hybrid, a cross between a plum and a cherry. This awesome piece of fruit ripens mid-summer and adds a new dimension to our winning cherry program. The Verry Cherry Plum is a proprietary variety developed and exclusively for us by a private breeder, Zaiger’s of Modesto, California. Zaiger’s of Modesto have been developing and improving produce for over 40 years. Our goal was to develop a better tasting plum by incorporating characteristics of a cherry.
The parents and grandparents of the Verry Cherry Plum consist of several different varieties of cherries and plums. This particular exclusive cross had been in development for more than a decade. Since 2012, we have been increasing commercial production each year as we successfully grow the item with our customers!
Verry Cherry Plums are harvested from mid-June on.
